Google co-founder; called the UN 'transparently antisemitic'
Google co-founder · Person
Sergey Brin co-founded Google, served as its and Alphabet's president until 2019 and remains an Alphabet board member and controlling shareholder. Forbes puts his net worth at $259.3B (4 Oct 2026). After Francesca Albanese's July 2025 UN report accused tech firms including Google of aiding Israel's genocide in Gaza, Brin wrote on an internal employee forum that 'throwing around the term genocide in relation to Gaza is deeply offensive to many Jewish people who have suffered actual genocides', adding: 'I would also be careful citing transparently antisemitic organizations like the UN in relation to these issues.' He later told The Washington Post he meant a 'plainly biased and misleading report.' Two months later the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza. Google, which he co-controls, runs Project Nimbus with Amazon, Israel's $1.2B government cloud contract, and in February 2025 dropped its pledge against AI for weapons and surveillance.
