Robert S. Kapito

BlackRock co-founder and president; chaired a fund raising for Israel

BlackRock co-founder and president · Person

Robert S. Kapito co-founded BlackRock in 1988 with Larry Fink and is its president and a director. BlackRock paid him $25.7M for 2025, up from $21.8M in 2024, and his share of a retention award tied to BlackRock's private-market funds was valued at $25.3M at the end of 2024. A 2022 Guardian headline, cited by Wikipedia, put his wealth at about $400M. Kapito helps lead the firm that Francesca Albanese's July 2025 UN report places, with Vanguard, among the largest institutional investors in companies it ties to Israel's genocide in Gaza, including Palantir, Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet. From July 2016 he chaired the board of UJA-Federation of New York, which by December 2023 had raised $156M for its Israel Emergency Fund since 7 October, $75M of it from the Wall Street community. In 2022, as prices soared, he offered his diagnosis of ordinary people's problem: 'We have a very entitled generation that has never had to sacrifice.'
