Auditor-General finds Zambia's Ministry of Health awarded K24 million in contracts for hospital works already completed by earlier contractors, with no evidence of site inspections
The Auditor-General's report for the year ended 31 December 2024 found that Zambia's Ministry of Health awarded three new contracts worth a combined K24,000,524 for works that had already been completed, in part, by previous contractors, per News Diggers' reading of the report. The report found no evidence that site inspections were conducted before the new contractors were engaged and cites section 67(1) and (2) of the Public Procurement Regulations of 2022, which concern the documentation required with a works requisition.
