Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu arrested a second time by the anti-corruption commission, over an alleged US$52,000 extortion scheme tied to a council land lease
Zimbabwe's Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) arrested Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu in November 2024, alleging he and a finance committee chair demanded US$20,000 in cash, supposedly on behalf of 20 other councillors, from a company seeking council land for a cement mixing plant. In August 2026 ZACC arrested him again, with councillors, over an alleged US$52,000 scheme in which a businessman holding a 50-year lease for a hotel development was told the lease could be terminated unless he matched a rival investor's offer.
