Paris faces prosecutors' investigations over its handling of abuse reports in after-school care, after a 2015 city inspection report whose recommendations were largely not applied
Public Sénat reported in April 2026 that Paris had suspended 78 after-school (périscolaire) staff since the start of 2026, 31 for suspected sexual violence, and that Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire presented a plan of about 20 million euros; observers noted many measures were already in a 2015 report by the city's Inspection générale that was largely not applied, and Grégoire acknowledged a 'collective error'. In June 2026 franceinfo reported that a council group filed a report with the prosecutor over the city's criminal liability, citing late reporting and staff being moved rather than removed.
