What happened
Biman Prasad, who served as Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance from December 2022, was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with two counts under the Political Parties Act 2013: failing to disclose his directorship of Platinum Hotels & Resorts Pte Ltd in his declaration of assets, liabilities and income as at 31 December 2015, and recklessly providing false information in the accompanying statutory declaration. He stepped down from his ministerial portfolios in October 2025 after being charged. FICAC is prosecuting the case in the Suva Magistrates Court, where proceedings were under way in September 2026, with the defence challenging evidence and seeking to halt the case; the High Court earlier refused a permanent stay application. Prasad has described the case as a temporary setback and said he would clear his name. The charges are allegations that a court has not decided.
