Rep. Carol Miller disclosed 21 spousal stock trades from 2021 in a Sept. 2022 House filing, past the STOCK Act's 45-day deadline
Subject of this story
What happened
A House Periodic Transaction Report that Rep. Carol Miller signed on Sept. 2, 2022 lists 21 spousal stock transactions in 20 companies dated between March 4 and Nov. 10, 2021, including Johnson & Johnson, Quest Diagnostics, Gilead Sciences, General Dynamics and L3Harris, each in the $1,001 to $50,000 range. The STOCK Act requires members of Congress to report such transactions within 45 days. No Ethics Committee finding or penalty was located in the sources reviewed. Miller's other House periodic transaction reports reviewed (Jan. 2022 to 2025), including a second report signed the same day for August 2022 trades, were filed within 45 days of their transactions, and a 2026 report only amended the dollar ranges on four 2025 sales already disclosed.
