Two Supreme Court justices face conflict-of-interest scrutiny over ties to Banco Master's owner while overseeing the bank's collapse investigation

What happened
Reporting based on flight records and internal documents, largely by Folha de S.Paulo, Gazeta do Povo and the nonprofit newsroom Agencia Publica, found that STF justices Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli had undisclosed financial and personal ties to banker Daniel Vorcaro while each played a role in the Supreme Court's handling of the Banco Master collapse: Moraes flew on a jet linked to a Vorcaro company before meeting him, and his wife's law firm signed a contract with the bank worth up to R$129 million; Toffoli flew with a lawyer for a Master executive to a Copa Libertadores final in Lima days before taking over the case as rapporteur, then imposed secrecy on the proceedings. Both justices confirmed the underlying contacts but denied any impropriety, and the other ten STF justices later ruled unanimously, in a closed session, that neither had a conflict requiring recusal; opposition senators filed impeachment requests against both.
