What happened
After Honduras' November 30, 2025 election, the National Electoral Council (CNE) had over 99% of votes counted by December 15 but flagged about 2,800 tally sheets, nearly half a million votes, for re-examination; OAS mission head Eladio Loizaga said the delay in processing and publishing results was not justifiable, though observers found no evidence of fraud. Council members traded accusations: LIBRE's Marlon Ochoa filed a complaint alleging recordings showed National Party member Cossette López-Osorio conspiring with the military to influence results, and the Attorney General opened an investigation on October 29, while López-Osorio accused Ochoa of intimidation on December 2. Outgoing President Xiomara Castro alleged tampering, which observers did not substantiate.
