Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene resigned on 3 June 2025 after losing a parliamentary confidence vote, in which he received 44 of 82 votes in a secret ballot, short of the 64 needed. The vote followed weeks of protests triggered by social media photos purportedly showing his 23-year-old son and the son's girlfriend with designer goods on their engagement holiday, which prompted public questions about how the family could afford such spending. Local media reported that the country's anti-corruption body had been looking into their finances. A protest group collected more than 59,000 signatures demanding his resignation. Oyun-Erdene, in office since January 2021, denied wrongdoing.
