What happened
A King County Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) final investigation report dated January 6, 2026 sustained findings of dishonesty, conduct unbecoming, and violation of Sheriff's Office technology policy against Deputy (formerly Detective) James W. Taylor. The investigation, opened after a prior probe into an alleged non-consensual relationship with a community member, found Taylor exchanged sexually explicit messages and coordinated in-person sexual encounters with multiple women he met on duty and in uniform via his department-issued cell phone, then repeatedly denied it to investigators until confronted with forensic evidence. Independent police-accountability outlet DivestSPD reported Taylor was subsequently terminated.
