What happened
Rigsrevisionen (Denmark's national audit office), in its August 2026 report on the 2025 state accounts, found that the Ministry of Transport breached the appropriation rules by spending about DKK 291 million more than authorized on the new railway connection over Vestfyn without first obtaining the Folketing Finance Committee's authorization. The project is about DKK 848 million more expensive than its original appropriation. The Public Accounts Committee (Statsrevisorerne) called the breach unsatisfactory. The Transport Ministry is the only ministry the report says did not comply with the appropriation rules.
