What happened
After the previous contractor was removed from Slovakia's Presov military hospital project over alleged structural defects (concrete improperly poured into load-bearing columns; police are investigating, and 17 columns have been demolished), Defence Minister Robert Kalinak announced a new contract in May 2026 with In Vest and partners. The consortium 'Team Slovakia' (In Vest, Metrostav, Skanska, Strabag, Hornex) took over the site in early June for about EUR260 million, awarded directly without a public tender, according to TASR and Standard. The opposition KDH is seeking Kalinak's dismissal over the project's cost. Kalinak said a separate tender would be held for a later stage.
