What happened
After the March 28, 2025 earthquake, Radio Free Asia reported that Myanmar's junta required aid groups to get prior approval and deliver supplies through regional authorities; more than 10 aid groups told RFA they would halt relief amid checkpoints and registration rules, and a Mandalay resident alleged officers took supplies from a community center. Justice For Myanmar documented at least US$55.8 million in corporate donations after the quake, including over 104 billion kyat in cash (about $49.7 million) given directly to key junta figures including junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, and a donor certificate on State Administration Council letterhead signed by Min Aung Hlaing. Justice For Myanmar argues this risks funding atrocities; the junta did not respond to RFA's request for comment.
