What happened
On December 20, 2024, Il Sole 24 Ore reported that the Ecomafie parliamentary commission was opening an inquiry into the planned Santa Palomba waste-to-energy plant in Rome. Commission president Jacopo Morrone said an in-depth investigation could not be completed in time because AMA, Rome's municipal waste company, had its top management 'falsely declared' they did not hold the necessary documentation, as reported by the Rome public prosecutor's office. Morrone credited Mayor Roberto Gualtieri with handing over the technical documents at the end of November. AMA's side is not given in the report.
