What happened
Berlin's state audit office (Landesrechnungshof), in its 2025 annual report, found that the Bezirksamt Marzahn-Hellersdorf has had no valid IT emergency plan since 2015, that some IT concepts are about 20 years old, and that the district meets neither Berlin's requirements nor the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) standards. Technical rooms are inadequately secured and staff lack IT security training. Auditors expect the district to create a security concept, a training program and IT emergency management. According to Tagesspiegel, the Greens group in the district assembly has asked for a special committee to examine the issue.
