A UN Human Rights Office report released in December 2025 found that Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters killed more than 1,000 civilians during a three-day attack on Zamzam displacement camp in North Darfur, which held more than 500,000 people before the assault; hundreds were summarily executed, per AP. UNICEF said at least 23 children and nine aid workers were reportedly killed in attacks in and around Al Fasher, Abu Shouk and Zamzam camps on 11-13 April 2025. Amnesty International, which said around 400,000 people fled the camp in two days and documented 47 civilians deliberately killed, called for the attack to be investigated as a war crime; the RSF did not respond to its request for comment.
