Resident Juan Rider Mireles II filed a sworn ethics complaint on June 1, 2026 alleging McKee-Rodriguez misused city resources after the councilman, responding in May 2026 to a hateful Facebook comment containing a racial slur, posted three images including a September 2024 email from his own council office to the commenter that exposed her full email address. Through outside counsel, McKee-Rodriguez submitted a June 24, 2026 response acknowledging he should have redacted the email address before posting, and he completed Texas Public Information Act training on June 3, 2026. The Ethics Review Board panel met July 30-31, 2026 but took no final action, deferring for further written responses.
