What happened
On February 11, 2026, a review panel of the Nevada Commission on Ethics found credible evidence supporting a determination that just and sufficient cause exists for the commission to render an opinion on alleged violations of NRS 281A.400(1), (2), (7) and (9) by Attorney General Aaron Ford, and referred two consolidated complaints (Case Nos. 25-181C and 25-216C) to the full commission. The panel had three members, but only two signed the determination; the third was listed as absent. One complaint was initiated by the commission itself on September 18, 2025; the other was submitted by a member of the public on November 10, 2025. As reported by the Las Vegas Sun and KTNV, the complaint alleges he accepted more than $35,000 in trips from the Attorney General Alliance, a nonprofit largely funded by corporations, some subject to regulation or litigation before his office, and the commission is also reviewing his office's use of official social media accounts that tagged his campaign account. A panel determination is not a finding that a violation occurred. The commission's Opinions page, last updated August 27, 2026, still lists the case as referred for an opinion, with no final opinion posted. Ford's office, through deputy communications director Alcinia Whiters, said he respects the commission and 'is confident that it will find that he acted in accordance with all ethical rules.' KTNV reported that Bernie Zadrowski, a former Clark County Republican Party chairman, filed a complaint with the commission.
