What happened
After the Grenfell Tower Inquiry's Phase 2 report, in February 2025 the government accepted the findings and all 58 recommendations, 49 in full and nine in principle. Its first annual progress report in February 2026 said 12 recommendations had been formally discharged, which a law firm summary notes included two remaining Phase 1 recommendations. The government's September 2026 update lists 61 recommendations (including remaining Phase 1 items), 30 complete and 31 in progress, and says it expects all to be implemented by the end of 2029. It also says the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee is considering how Parliament could oversee implementation of inquiry recommendations, with its inquiry expected to conclude in early 2027.
