What happened
The Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office indicted former South Korean President Moon Jae-in on bribery charges on April 24, 2025, alleging he received roughly 217 million won ($152,000) in wages, housing costs, and other benefits funneled to his then-son-in-law by Thai budget airline Thai Eastar Jet between 2018 and 2020, in exchange for appointing the airline founder's associate, former lawmaker Lee Sang-jik, to a government-funded post. Moon called the indictment 'unjust' and politically motivated.
