What happened
Dallas City Council member Chad West, who chairs the council's finance committee, which is weighing the future of City Hall, canceled a political fundraiser hosted by developer Ray Washburne. Washburne has proposed moving City Hall into an office building near Pioneer Park and redeveloping its downtown site. The Dallas Morning News reported that West canceled after it contacted him about the potential conflict; the event had earlier been postponed because of a winter storm. West said council members had not been told who submitted City Hall proposals.
