Major General Al-Nour Ahmed Adam (al-Qubba) defected from the Rapid Support Forces to the Sudanese Armed Forces in April 2026 and was received by army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on 19 April; commander Ali Rizq Allah (al-Savannah) followed in May. Human Rights Watch, which has documented RSF killings and rapes during the October 2025 takeover of El Fasher, said on 10 June 2026 that it found no public evidence the army was investigating the defectors' alleged crimes and that general amnesties announced by al-Burhan cannot override prosecution obligations. HRW said it could not verify whether an amnesty was formally granted to the defectors.
