What happened
On September 17, 2026, Bosnia's Central Election Commission imposed fines totalling more than 100,000 euros ahead of the October 4 elections, according to Balkan Insight. Milorad Dodik's SNSD received the largest share: about 41,900 euros as a party, roughly 52,700 euros with candidate sanctions, for unlawful use of public infrastructure projects for partisan promotion and use of children in political marketing. Dodik was personally fined about 4,600 euros over an Instagram post claiming credit for taxpayer-funded public works. Dario Jovanovic of the election-monitoring group Pod Lupom said parties see such fines as 'a minor, predictable cost of doing business' that will not stop ruling parties using state resources.
