What happened
Sweden's Parliamentary Ombudsman (Justitieombudsmannen, JO) issued renewed formal criticism of the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) after finding the agency again failed to process requests for public documents (allmänna handlingar) with the promptness required under the constitutional Freedom of the Press Act, with some requests taking two to six weeks. JO had already criticized IVO for the same problem in 2023; in the new decision JO stated IVO had not come close to meeting the speed requirement. A September 2025 follow-up inspection found the agency's newly adopted measures — having its registry route requests directly to caseworkers and pre-screening some cases — were having a positive effect.
