What happened
On 2 September 2026 Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro of the Islamabad High Court held that 'lawful incarceration does not authorise the avoidable deprivation of human dignity' and ordered Adiala Jail to provide family meetings, scheduled calls, daily exercise, reading material and a television, with 15 days for compliance. Jail officials told the court Imran Khan can move within a seven-cell compound and receive visitors, and that security limits reflect his status as a former prime minister. An earlier IHC order allowed family, lawyers and designated associates to meet him on Tuesdays and Thursdays; on 4 June 2026 a six-member PTI delegation said it waited until 4pm without permission, and PTI said it plans contempt proceedings. Khan has been jailed since August 2023.
