What happened
On January 13, 2026, Slovenia's Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (KPK) issued a decision that Prime Minister Robert Golob violated integrity principles in two text messages he sent then-Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar in November 2022 about police personnel. The KPK concluded that, absent a government policy position on police staffing, the prime minister had no authority to inquire about or direct such matters, and it dropped the other allegations. Golob's office said the messages only expressed concern, that the decision is not final and that it would be challenged in court; Golob said he would not resign and would let voters judge.
