São Paulo's mayor appointed the son of council power broker Milton Leite to his cabinet; Leite has now been targeted for arrest in a PCC bus-infiltration probe

What happened
In February 2025, São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes appointed Alexandre Leite, son of former city councilman Milton Leite, as Secretary of Institutional Relations, according to reporting by Agência Pública. That followed April 2024's Operação Fim da Linha, which linked Milton Leite to bus operator Transwolff, accused of laundering money for the PCC criminal organization; the city cancelled Transwolff's contract in January 2025. In September 2026 a new operation (Vectura Corrupta) targeted Milton Leite, and a court decision cited by investigators describes him as the 'de facto owner' of Transwolff; he was arrested on September 18 on a 30-day temporary warrant. Leite and Transwolff deny the allegations and no one has been convicted. Alexandre Leite left the cabinet in March 2026 to run for office. Nunes says he knew nothing of the irregularities and has said Leite should 'answer for his acts.'
