What happened
A 2023 Dutch court ruling, as reported by NOS and NL Times, found that Boomerang Zorg, one of two companies in Stichting Verenigd Jeugdhulp, transferred EUR 323,000 in youth-care funds to the Amsterdam amateur football club AGB, with no evidence of the daytime sports activities the company cited as justification. Boomerang Zorg says the money paid for day activities offered by the club. The Municipality of Amsterdam says it learned of the ruling only in January 2025 and opened an integrity investigation; it says the provider answered 8 of its 41 questions. In March 2026 Amsterdam ended its contract with the whole foundation, which received over EUR 10 million in 2025 for about 66 young people who now need new placements, with few alternatives available. The city has not said whether it will seek repayment.
