What happened
Maryland's Attorney General released a report in April 2023 on child sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Baltimore after a multi-year investigation, detailing abuse by 156 abusers affiliated with the archdiocese, most of it between the 1940s and 2002. In February 2025 the Supreme Court of Maryland ruled 4-3 that the legislature acted within its power in passing the Child Victims Act of 2023, which lifted the time limit on lawsuits against public and private entities including the archdiocese.
