What happened
A periodic transaction report that Rep. Kelly Morrison (DFL, MN-3) signed on April 2, 2026 (House Clerk filing 20034213) disclosed seven partial sales of stock in the privately held Andersen Corporation, six of them dated between Jan. 20, 2025 and Jan. 20, 2026 and reported more than 45 days after the trade, by 27 days to 392 days past the 45-day deadline as of the April 2 signing (the seventh, dated March 15, 2026, was within 45 days), plus purchases of Cavall and FluxAI dated Dec. 22, 2025 and reported 101 days later. The Clerk filing gives March 19, 2026 as the notification date for the Andersen sales. The STOCK Act generally requires members of Congress to report covered trades within 45 days of the trade, and NOTUS reports the standard fine for a STOCK Act disclosure violation is $200. NOTUS, which reported the lateness on April 6, 2026, calculated the eight trades at a combined $1.41 million to $2.91 million in the broad ranges lawmakers report, and the Star Tribune, citing NOTUS, reported the violation on April 9. Morrison's spokesperson acknowledged the disclosures were tardy, attributed them to her investment manager, said Morrison had no prior knowledge of the transactions, said they were found in a yearly audit for her financial disclosure, and said the reporting processes have been updated; her office confirmed she would pay any fine the Ethics Committee issues. NOTUS notes the STOCK Act makes no distinction for trades made by an adviser on a member's behalf. On April 21, 2026 Morrison's office announced she is beginning the process of divesting her direct ownership in all public and private companies; the announcement does not mention the late filings. The reviewed reporting does not describe any Ethics Committee action on the late filings.
