Botswana's President Duma Boko received a forensic audit report from Alvarez & Marsal Middle East Limited on 30 April 2026. According to the government's Daily News, the audit covered 30 government entities from April 2014 to March 2024, identified 814 instances of irregularity, and flagged 80 cases for immediate criminal or disciplinary investigation; it put a conservative potential loss at P33 billion, which Minister Moeti Mohwasa described as a conservative and preliminary estimate. Legalbrief, citing the Botswana Gazette, reported on 17 August 2026 that the report had not reached the country's principal law-enforcement agencies and that the heads of the prosecution, anti-corruption and police bodies said publicly they had no knowledge of it. The same report says Boko argues the institutions expected to act on the findings are compromised; that argument is his, and the sources reviewed give no evidence either way. The audit's findings were released only in summary form, and the sources reviewed report no charges arising from it.
