What happened
A Periodic Transaction Report signed by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) and filed June 3, 2026 lists 16 transactions in jointly owned assets: 14 purchases dated February 7, 2025 (among them Boeing, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, L3Harris and Lockheed Martin), a sale dated February 10, 2026 and a sale dated June 1, 2026, with notification dates of May 29, 2026 for all but the June 1 sale. The STOCK Act requires reports within 30 days of notification and no later than 45 days after a transaction, which for the February 2025 purchases fell in March 2025. NOTUS reported on June 4, 2026 that the disclosure came more than 14 months after the deadline. His spokesperson, Molly Makarewicz, told NOTUS that his portfolio is independently managed and that "While filing the annual disclosure, it became apparent that the financial administrator had executed trades, without communicating with or notifying Congressman Walberg"; she said all necessary paperwork has been filed and the congressman "is in full compliance with all requirements." She did not answer NOTUS's question about whether the standard $200 late fine was paid, and the records reviewed do not show whether a fine or other penalty was assessed. NOTUS cited House Ethics Committee guidance that members are personally responsible for the information in their reports regardless of who assisted in preparing them.
