What happened
On 1 October 2026 the Taiwan High Court acquitted former National Taipei University of Technology professor Wang Longchang in a retrial of the Nangang Exhibition Hall bribery case, ruling 115 Zai No. 3. He had been finally convicted in 2012 and sentenced to 7 years 8 months, later released on parole. The court found the direct evidence came mainly from briber-witness Huang Wei-an, whose accounts of timing, amount and method were inconsistent, with no phone records, seized cash or money-flow evidence. The Judicial Reform Foundation said retrial procedures are too narrow and called for an independent case-review body; none of the sources report any consequence for those who handled the original case.
