What happened
Section 148(5) of Pakistan's Elections Act requires election tribunals to decide each petition within 180 days; for the 374 petitions filed over the 8 February 2024 general election that period expired in October 2024. Dawn reported that by the end of April 2026 tribunals had decided 246 petitions, accepting four (all from Balochistan) and dismissing 242, while Islamabad's petitions were all still pending. FAFEN reported in August 2025 that 203 of the 374 were still pending. The only reversal Dawn cited was NA-251, where an appeal found the returning officer 'had deliberately and unlawfully altered the results'.
