What happened
Reports by Welt, t-online and NWZ say Bundestag member Martina Uhr (AfD, Lower Saxony) employed her partner and his daughter in her parliamentary office. In late February 2026 the AfD's Lower Saxony group in the Bundestag said an immediate review had confirmed the allegations 'in full' and gave her 24 hours to give up her mandate or face a motion to exclude her from the parliamentary group. NWZ notes the Members of Parliament Act bars employing relatives, spouses and registered life partners but does not expressly regulate unmarried partners, so whether a rule was broken is disputed; Uhr did not comment when asked. Correctiv tracks the case among AfD nepotism allegations.
