What happened
The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has charged former Transport and Infrastructure Minister Eric Molale with abuse of office, alleging that in 2024 he directed then Permanent Secretary Kgakgamalo Ken Ketshajwang to bypass competitive bidding and directly appoint Tau Grading and Building Construction (Pty) Ltd to the Ghanzi-New Xade road project, valued at P1,455,754,807.37, prejudicing other registered companies entitled to compete (Mmegi, 18 September 2026). Molale is reported as the eighth accused in a wider case over the same road project that also involves former minister Noah Salakae. These are charges; no court has made findings.
