What happened
The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) sent Greek Parliament case files in its investigation of the OPEKEPE agricultural-subsidy agency, and on 24 April 2026 Parliament lifted the immunity of 11 serving MPs. On 4 May 2026 PASOK, SYRIZA and KKE asked for a preliminary parliamentary investigation into former ministers Spilios Livanos and Fotini Arabatzi. Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said there was no basis for further action because the requests were not based on evidence; opposition parties called the refusal a cover-up. On 16 July 2026 EPPO charged 22 suspects including four sitting New Democracy MPs.
