What happened
On 9 October 2026 Singapore's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) announced that six individuals were charged in court with alleged corruption and money laundering offences involving engineering contracts. The bureau alleges that between March 2018 and January 2022 a business development manager at Aalloy Engineering gave bribes of more than S$394,000 and US$237,000 to staff at Yokogawa Electrical International and Yokogawa Europe to further Aalloy's business, and that one Yokogawa employee laundered not less than S$283,600 and INR 551,230 over 86 occasions. These are allegations; those charged are presumed innocent unless convicted. The bureau states that a conviction under section 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act can bring a fine of up to S$100,000, imprisonment of up to five years, or both. CPIB accepts corruption reports from any member of the public through an online e-Report form, and informers may remain anonymous.
