What happened
In May 2025 Uttar Pradesh police in Shravasti shot Chhotkau alias Allauddin in both legs in what the FIR described as an exchange of fire during an abduction-case arrest. In August 2026 Justice Subhash Vidyarthi of the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow bench) found the account prima facie doubtful, noting that 23 police personnel, including a 10-member SWAT team, reported no injuries against a man with a country-made pistol and two cartridges, and that all 23 had been rewarded. The court ordered the CBI to investigate the FIR's correctness within three months and stayed related trial-court proceedings.
