What happened
The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack subpoenaed Rep. Jim Jordan on May 12, 2022. Its final report says Jordan sent a May 25, 2022 letter raising a variety of objections, did not appear for his May 27, 2022 deposition, wrote again on June 9, and did not appear by the June 11, 2022 deadline. The report referred him, with three other Republican members, to the House Ethics Committee for failure to comply with a lawful subpoena, and states the referral was only for the subpoena noncompliance. A Jordan spokesperson, Russell Dye, called the referrals "another partisan and politician stunt," as reported by AP via PBS. The House Ethics Committee's press-release archive contains no statement about the referral (latest listed release: Aug. 28, 2026) as of Oct. 5, 2026.
