What happened
On June 16, 2025, San Antonio's Ethics Review Board ruled that District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte and District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur violated the city ethics code section barring use of city facilities, personnel, or time for private campaign purposes. Whyte was fined $2,500 (five $500 fines), given a letter of reprimand, and ordered into ethics training after posting photos taken in City Hall and with the police chief to his campaign Facebook page, implying department endorsements he didn't have. Kaur received a reprimand letter and mandatory training after her chief of staff mixed campaign talk and city business at a neighborhood association meeting on city time. Whyte disputed wrongdoing; Kaur said she respected the ruling.
