What happened
A Seyfarth Shaw investigation report, obtained by The Urbanist via public records request, sustained allegations that then-Office of Police Accountability Director Andrew Myerberg and Seattle Police Department officers improperly obtained and disclosed the private, unredacted medical records of a protester detained June 8, 2020, violating state medical privacy law and city policy. The Mayor's Office, where Myerberg had since been promoted, resisted releasing the report and separately engaged the Pacifica Law Group to produce a competing opinion disputing Seyfarth Shaw's finding. Neither Myerberg nor the city responded on the record to the investigation's findings when contacted by The Urbanist.
