Norway's Auditor General, Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen, called the 2025 annual accounts of Forsvarsbygg, the state agency managing defence properties, unauditable because of major weaknesses in its financial systems and declined to approve them. Dagens Næringsliv reported that Forsvarsbygg exceeded its budget agreements by nearly NOK 500 million (about USD 50 million) and allegedly tried to keep the overruns secret; the agency's acting director admitted serious violations of purchasing rules and said the ministry had not been informed. Defence Minister Tore O. Sandvik launched an investigation, said he could not guarantee no further mistakes, and was called before the Storting on 15 June 2026; Conservative leader Ine Eriksen Søreide stressed the need for control over defence spending. Earlier, Sandvik told the Storting's control committee that the ministry was not told of framework-agreement overspending at Forsvarsbygg before January 2026.
