Contracorriente (14 Sep 2026) reports that on 27 December 2024 Honduras' Direccion de Gestion por Resultados (DIGER) signed a $2.1 million contract for the "BIEN" digital wallet with the ITG-Tech5 consortium. It says ITG took over the operations of Sistemas Abiertos (SASA), which won an IHSS contract worth $43.9 million after an addendum and which the Tribunal Superior de Cuentas ordered to repay $21 million, and that both belong to the same business group; ITG itself was not found liable in that case. It also reports that a 2018 customs-authority (DARA) contract with ITG for servers was terminated on 15 February 2019 for serious breach. DIGER said information on the system's servers and developers would be withheld on national-security grounds, but the transparency institute IAIP told the outlet no reservation request exists. Former DIGER director Marcio Sierra, who led the project, did not answer questions on how the company was chosen.
