What happened
On 24 July 2025 an ICC Pre-Trial Chamber found Hungary did not execute the Court's request to provisionally arrest Benjamin Netanyahu during his 3-6 April 2025 visit, and referred the matter to the Assembly of States Parties. Hungary had argued domestic law and immunity barred arrest; the chamber said inadequate domestic legislation cannot justify non-compliance. Hungary had announced a withdrawal from the Rome Statute during the visit. On 27 May 2026 Hungary's parliament voted 133-37 to reverse the withdrawal under Prime Minister Peter Magyar's government, which said it would execute ICC warrants.
