Seoul filed a police complaint against two city employees accused of diverting about 50 million won in unspent budget for an overseas trip

On June 18, 2025, the Seoul Metropolitan Government filed a criminal complaint for embezzlement at Namdaemun Police Station against two employees of its Global City Policy Bureau, a section-chief-level official and a staff member working on international development cooperation. After an internal tip in April, the city audited the case and found misconduct, alleging they diverted about 50 million won (about $36,000) in unspent budget funds for personal use, reportedly including an overseas trip.
