Prato mayor Ilaria Bugetti resigns after being placed under investigation for corruption in a vote-for-favors probe

Ilaria Bugetti, mayor of Prato, resigned on 20 June 2025 (effective 10 July 2025) after Florence prosecutors informed her she was under investigation for corruption, accused of trading favors and votes with textile entrepreneur Riccardo Matteini Bresci. Vice-mayor Simone Faggi was also implicated for allegedly making false statements to prosecutors.
