State forensic audit finds Tulsa Public Schools made over $25 million in expenditures that violated bidding rules and documents a board member's undisclosed conflict of interest in a $390,000 nonprofit contract
A forensic audit by Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd, ordered by Gov. Kevin Stitt in 2022, reviewed $37.7 million in Tulsa Public Schools spending from 2015-2023 and found more than 1,400 irregularities across roughly 900 transactions with at least 90 vendors, including over $25 million in expenditures that bypassed competitive-bidding requirements and payments structured just under a $50,000 approval threshold.
