Boechout mayor Koen T'Sijen re-elected in 2024 despite six open corruption and conflict-of-interest investigations into his ties with property developers
Koen T'Sijen, mayor of Boechout since 2007, is the subject of at least six ongoing investigations — including two Audit Vlaanderen forensic audits and a judicial corruption inquiry referred to Belgium's Central Anti-Corruption Service — into alleged extensive collusion with favored property developers, breaches of confidentiality on building files, and manipulation of spatial-planning decisions across multiple construction dossiers. The Flemish government placed Boechout under enhanced administrative oversight as a result.
